A specific ask for this commission was to focus on the subtle curves and shaping within this Alfa Romeo. At first glance the body is a simple sedan, yet upon closer inspection, the subtle arcs, carbon fiber details, and elegant yet intricate shaping begin to stand out. To capture the subtle side panelling of the vehicle, a series of brackets are used to inset an angled line by the width of half of a plate.
The Alfa Romeo has an iconic front grill shape, and capture those sharp angles with LEGO, a variety of different offset techniques needed to be employed. Both the 1x1 and 1x3 tiles used in the front connect into a round clip and bar assembling nesting on an odd number grid, where the headlight assemblies then make up that difference to fill in, and attempt to match, the outer edge of the car.
Similar things happen with the rear. Angled tail lights, an inset trunk face, as well as split and angled exhaust ports.
This commission proved to be a challenging model, and very rewarding one once the final design came into fruition.
