In the lovely yard of the client, sits one of her favorite places; the willow tree. The magical canopy gives off the affect of a fairy garden with wonderuous life beneath, so she strung glowing balls of fairy lights hanging from the branches, emphasizing the magic!
With LEGO, the wispiness of a willow tree is difficult to capture, with tiny leaves coming off of each of the thin, dangling branches. With the use of stem elements (Part ID: 24855) stacked inside of one another and rotated, a similar look can be achieved. Every willow looks denser from different directions, the way the entangled branches move and point, or simply blow within the breeze.
Capturing the hanging ball lights for the fairies is a different, yet also simple technique using transparent yellow round tiles on "travis bricks" (Part ID: 4733) which are then strewn through the leaves and branches of the model. Beneath lay a nest of roots, some purtruding the surface of the earth, others snaking their way beneath, connecting back to the client's own world wide web.
