BUILD LORE

In this Episode of LEGO MASTERS, Michael and I selected the Batman from  "Batman" (1989) and "Batman Returns" (1992). We needed to create a bat mobile, and gadget based off of this era, and it was important to us to capture the sleek curvature from this era of vehicle, yet add a new twist to the design.

Michael and I decided to turn our rendition of this vehicle into a half track, giving him better offroad capabilities if need be. In this timeline Batman's main villains to face off against are the Joker and the Penguin. With the Joker's laughing gas and the penguin's cold henchmen, we decided our gadget should be a fan to filter and remove the gas from the streets of Gotham, that can also blow hot air onto the chilled henchmen and get them out of the streets.

What's that?! Crime?! in Gotham? Listen close cuz we got just the thing all right, introducing the Bat Track.
Power steering?! Better slam it right there!
Dark roads at night?! Headlights. Boom - all over there.
Toxic Joker gas coming at ya fast? Deploy the Bat Fan!
What's that, rocky roads? Oh no problem, we got our Bat Treads!
Oh, don't forget! Easy access? We got the Bat Wing doors just for that style.
The best place to find your new Batmobile is at your local used car salesman, and these jokers got all the hot commodities for your new ride.

In this challenge Michael and I were quite pleased with how our model worked out and how seamless out design was. Having two builders working simultaneously can be difficult espeically where the end model is supposed to be so seamless, yet with each of us doing a literal half, were able to bring the two together in a coherent way. Michael was set on including power functions in this challenge, and created the working tracks, and programming the spike prime. I incorporated mechanisms such as lighting and steering that can be controlled manually from the rear of the vehicle, imagined as if it were a model to be played with. Opening doors, and more importantly a fan that lifted out of the back to combat the Joker and Penguin finished off our model.

BEHIND THE BUILD

Challenge Time:    6 Hours

Challenge Description:

Whether you're rebooting the BatMobile, or designing a totally unique Bat Ride, we want to see vehicles with Batman worthy super features.

Now each of the Batman eras has a unique style and design language. Think about the silhouettes and the details and make sure you really integrate them seamlessly into your build.

So, we want you to show us what makes that specific version of Batman special. Is it the colors? Is it the gadgets that allow him to do the impossible? Really surprise us with something unexpected, but they have to be worthy of the caped crusader.

Challenge Outcome:

Ben and Michael are a finalist!
